Weekly Photo Challenge . Contrast

Given the fact that it is spring, and the Dog Wood Tree is Virginia’s State Flower, perhaps the contrast of the buds against a clear blue sky will be an appropriate contrast for this weeks theme? If not, oh well… that’s what we have here:

Dogwood tree in blossom.

If that doesn’t work for you, here is a better example of contrast, although I am not sure the specie of the tree.

  1. Seeing flowers starting to bloom is a always a good contrast. I like your take on the challenge. Signs of spring in contrast to more winter is a good sign.

    • Thank you. I didn’t realize how many robins a dogwood attracts in the fall when the berries are ripe. They will flock all over the trees. Thank you for dropping by. πŸ™‚

    • I assume you mean, we’re ahead of you in the coming of spring? That photo is from a few years ago. So we’re not quite as far ahead as you might think. We’re getting there though. Thank God! πŸ™‚

But it could happen very fast here too … snow’s more or less gone, and we’re going to get some warm weather next week..

i did not know that the dogwood is the state flower of Virginia. how cool is that! it is also the official provincial flower of British Columbia, adopted in 1956 – and still blooming all these years later, LOL. But Virginia adopted it in 1918 according to Professor Google (I enquired) so you win. πŸ™‚

    • I think the dogwood is also North Carolina’s state flower, I know the cardinal is our state bird and theirs too. I did not know it was the flower of British Columbia though, so see … we both learned something new. Win-win. Cool deal, huh? Thank you for visiting. πŸ™‚ And thanks for the kudos. They, of course, are always welcome. πŸ™‚

    • I love a dogwood tree in full bloom. What a sight! I am not sure what the other tree is, but when I took that shot, I though the buds were interesting, so snap, snap. Thanks for dropping by, Gilly. πŸ™‚

  3. Wow! Love them. The first really is invited Spring, isn’t it? Lovely entry for the week’s theme. I like Spring with all the newness and color, but I do wish we’d have a real winter here first. Oh well. Looks like winter is over here for the most part. We are in a brutal summer, I’m afraid. 😦

    • Hi Carol. I took that photo a couple of years ago, but I am beginning to see trees budding a little here and there. In another couple of weeks, I’m sure the trees will be showing all kinds of pinks, whites, reds, and green. I suspect we’ll be in for a ‘buggy’ summer with the mild winter that just past. I guess we will have to wait and see. I noticed you have a couple of new posts on the boards as well, my Dear. I’ll be checking them out in the a.m. In the meantime, thanks for stopping by and sharing your thoughts. It is great to see you. πŸ™‚
